Parent University is a workshop registration and management system where NYC families can find free trainings on a wide range of topics. Parent University serves all families, from early childhood through adulthood, and seeks to educate and empower them as partners and advocates through free courses, resources, events, and activities.

How to Register:

  1. Visit parentu.schools.nyc

  2. Sign in with your NYC Schools Account or create a new account

  3. Choose a course from the Course Catalog tab

  4. Click Enroll

  5. Check your email for confirmation!

 JOIN THE PS/IS 163 PTA and ATTEND PTA MEETINGS!

The PTA, or Parent Teacher Association

  • advocates for students and families

  • updates parents and families about the school

  • plans and runs fun activities for parents and families at the school

Members

All of the following are automatically members of their school’s PA/PTA:

  • Parents and Step-parents

  • Legally appointed guardians

  • Foster parents

  • Persons in parental relation

Officers

Officers of a PA/PTA are responsible for the PA/PTA budget, events and activities. Officers are elected by membership annually.

HOMEWORK QUESTIONS AFTER SCHOOL? CALL Dial•A•Teacher

The UFT’s award-winning Dial-a-Teacher program is a homework help line for elementary, middle, and high school students attending New York City public schools. A qualified, licensed teacher is available Monday – Thursday, 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. when school is in session.

  • What: Homework help line for students, run by classroom teachers

  • Where: Call 212-777-3380

  • Who: Students in kindergarten through 12th grade

  • Subjects available: English, Math, Science and Social Studies
